Abstract

In this talk, I combine personal experience and data to tell the story of more than a decade’s work on developing, running, and researching Bangladesh’s only suicide prevention helpline. I look forward to sharing recent findings from research related to this project – specifcally, examining relationships between social and psychological features of callers and their presenting suicidal risk – and existing ideas for next steps. However, the primary goal of talk is to collectively brainstorm new directions for this work that build on opportunities afforded by DKU’s unique characteristics.
