Fangsheng Zhu

Assistant Professor of Sociology

Fangsheng Zhu studies policies, organizations, and technologies in education. His ongoing projects evolve around two research questions. First, why has education in China remained unequal and intensive? Second, what explains the rise and fall of China’s EdTech industry? His research has been supported by grants from Harvard University Fairbank Center, OYCF, and DKU CSCC, and recognized by awards from the China Times Foundation and the Comparative and International Education Society. Fangsheng received Ph.D. in Sociology from Harvard University in 2022, A.M. from the University of Chicago, and B.L. from Zhejiang University. He is currently Assistant Professor of Sociology at Duke Kunshan University, where he teaches methods, policy analysis, and education.
