Jihyun Jeong

Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science

Her research focuses on normative political theory, particularly the political and ethical dimensions of victimhood, oppression, and resistance. She is especially interested in the positive potential of victimhood as a political resource in resistance against oppression, as well as the responsibilities victims may have in how they engage their victimhood as political agents. Her teaching interests at Duke Kunshan University include contemporary political theory, feminist theory, and broader themes in moral and political philosophy. She is the author of the article “Victimhood as a Positive Political Resource” (European Journal of Political Theory, 2025) and is currently developing a book manuscript based on her dissertation, The Ethics of Victimhood: How Victimhood Can Be a Positive Political Resource (working title). Prior to her academic career, she worked as a Junior Legal Officer at the International Labour Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. She holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Seoul National University, a J.D. from Korea University, an M.A. in Political Science and International Relations from Seoul National University, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Duke University.
