My research focuses on exploring the impact of culture on China’s design innovation potential by investigating the structure, operation, and evolution of the Chinese creative industry and the overall knowledge economy. I am interested in entrepreneurship in the creative industry and how it fits into the whole picture of China’s innovation. I specialize in using design thinking as a trans-disciplinary method to drive innovation, creative expression, and entrepreneurial success with a focus on social problems. In the classroom, I work with students as “colleagues” to deconstruct and configure knowledge to address critical issues, approach interdisciplinary innovation, and more help students understand, plan, and achieve their objectives. I have a B.E. in Industrial Design and a B.M. in Marketing from the Taiyuan University of Technology and an M.Sd. and Ph.D. in Design from Arizona State University. As the Associate Director for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, I founded the DKU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative (DKU InE) which has been a comprehensive platform and resource center to encourage innovation practice, nurture entrepreneurship, and help students to transform ideas into actions. I aim to develop innovative and entrepreneurial culture across campus by starting and strengthening various programs, topics, and resources. https://ine.dukekunshan.edu.cn/
